Our Infection Rates after Knee surgery and hysterectomies are zero

  • Charts are based on data supplied to the Health Protection Agency Surgical
    Site Infection Surveillance Service (SSISS) for four key surgical procedures.
  • HCA has been collecting this data since 1997 for some of our hospitals. The data for these charts has
    been compiled based on combined accurate data for ALL hospitals.

    In 2006, infection rates for coronary artery
    bypasses was half the national average.
    The rate for hip surgery is seven times
    lower than the national average.
  • HCA is piloting a dynamic programme to
    reduce infection rates even further.
